All appointments to statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils made by his predecessor, Nana Akufo-Addo, or former Ministers of State, have been formally terminated by President John Dramani Mahama in accordance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845).

This ruling becomes operative on January 7, 2025, the day after Mahama takes office.

According to the Presidential (Transition) Act of 2012, all former presidents' or ministers of state's appointees must resign from their posts when the government changes hands.

This clause guarantees a smooth handover of power and permits the new government to reorganize these organizations in compliance with the relevant enabling legislation.

After officially informing the impacted members, the President thanked them for their service and wished them luck in their future undertakings.

The Presidential (Transition) Act does not apply to commissions that are independent constitutional creations, so it is important to keep that in mind.

In the meantime, the management of these organizations has been directed to consult the Chief of Staff before taking any significant actions.

This method assures continuity and stability in the governance of these institutions until they are recreated.
