The previously scheduled 2024–2025 academic calendar has been confirmed to be intact by the Ghana Education Service (GES).
On January 2, 2025, the GES issued a statement explaining that elementary and junior high schools (JHS) will reopen on January 8, 2025, while senior high school (SHS) pupils are anticipated to resume classes on January 3, 2025.
The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has called on the Ministry of Education to respond to the financial difficulties that second-cycle schools confront.
SHS students were strongly recommended against the January 3 reopening, and CHASS had called for a postponement, warning that if these problems were not resolved, the reopening process may be disrupted.
The academic schedule is still in place, the GES confirmed in its announcement on January 2nd, notwithstanding these worries. It stressed that all educational levels will reopen on the previously planned dates.
The GES asked everyone to pay attention to and adhere to the declared academic calendar, including parents, students, staff, and the general public.
