The unfortunate death of a groom, Chief Inspector Godwin Beniba, during his wedding ceremony occurred last Friday in Akyem Anamase, which is close to Oda in the Eastern Region.

Station Officer Chief Inspector Beniba of the Anamase Police Station passed out shortly after reaching the Anamase Hotel, the event's location.

There, in one of the rooms inside the event center, sat his wife, Florence Debrah, whom the groom and his best men had been waiting for.

Witnesses reported that as soon as he entered the location, the groom complained of feeling lightheaded. Prior to anyone reacting, he fell to the ground.

He was taken by some of the invited guests to the Anamase Clinic, but upon arrival, the medical staff declared him dead.

The dreadful news devastated the hundreds of people who attended, including police officers who had come to watch the union from Accra, Koforidua, Oda, Akyem Achiase, Akyem Swedru, and other parts of the country. Many were so struck by grief that they were unable to control their weeping.

Large amounts of food and beverages that were prepared for the event were wasted as the surprised guests soberedly exited the site.

The deceased's relatives, who had come from his native Northern Region, made arrangements for the body to be taken to the Oda Government Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
