The National Democratic Congress (NDC) declared Baba Sadiq Abdulai the MP-elect for Okaikwei Central. Patrick Boamah, the MP for Okaikwei Central and the local candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has declared his intention to contest this decision in court.

Baba Sadiq received 15,323 votes, narrowly defeating incumbent Patrick Boamah, who received 14,949 votes, to be proclaimed the winner of the parliamentary election by the Electoral Commission.

130 ballots were returned out of the 30,332 valid votes cast in the election.

But the declaration's validity has been questioned by NPP members, who say it was issued under duress.

The process is questioned because sources state that the collation center was locked when the results were announced.

Boamah, who claims that the election process was flawed, has pledged to challenge the outcome in court.

In the days ahead, it is anticipated that the NPP will take legal action.
