Yesterday, a member of the NDC violently cut off the thumb finger of an NPP supporter in a community close to Bolgatanga.

The victim claimed to voting for former President John Mahama in this year's election, which is when the incident occurred, according to an eyewitness.

It was stated that the NDC member had been threatening to hurt everyone who publicly backed Mahama if they acknowledged voting for him.

In the area, the victim, an NPP supporter, was beaten while acknowledging that he had voted for Mahama.

It seems that the attacker committed political violence when they suddenly struck and severed the man's thumb.

The surrounding population has been stunned and terrified by the incident. Witnesses have denounced the attack as an intolerable act of violence motivated by divisions over politics.

It is thought that the political tension caused by the recent elections, in which supporters of the NDC and NPP have been at conflict, was the driving force behind the attacker's acts.

Although the psychological effects of the attack on the victim and his family are yet unknown, the victim has since gotten medical attention for his injuries.

It has been recommended that local authorities conduct a comprehensive investigation and act quickly to stop more political violence in the area.

Many are now urging political groupings to respect one another and engage in civil discourse in order to prevent future carnage.

The community hopes that justice will be served, and that such violence will not be tolerated again.
