Following a physical confrontation with one of his male students over a university lady, a school teacher in the Tamale constituency was detained, according to a report by GHOne TV this Saturday in Tamale, Northern Region.

Last Thursday, the incident occurred, and it has shocked the community.

A 34-year-old Tamale Technical Institute lecturer named Mr. Kwasi Amoako was allegedly observed arguing with his 19-year-old first-year student, Abdul Rahman.

The fight broke out outside a neighborhood café where the two guys were allegedly competing for the attention of University for Development Studies (UDS) first-year student Fatimah Musa.

Witnesses said that the two males were engaged in a furious argument before it turned into a brawl.

Amina Ibrahim, a café vendor, saw the fight and gave a description of what happened.

As Mr. Kwasi got closer to Abdul, I noticed that they began yelling at one another. They started punching each other before I knew it. Amina remarked, "Watching a teacher fight with his student in that way was really shocking."

Abdul, who was hurt after the altercation, clarified that the argument began when Mr. Kwasi, whom Fatimah had been meeting informally, approached him about a miscommunication.

When he approached me, he began to accuse me of attempting to steal his girlfriend. Abdul recalled that before he even gave me an opportunity to explain, he struck me.

Someone contacted the police after the altercation caught the attention of onlookers. Upon their prompt arrival, officers separated the two males.

As a result of his disturbance and assault of a student, Mr. Kwasi was immediately placed under arrest.

"As soon as we heard about the altercation, we took action. Inspector Kofi Mensah, the main investigator, stated, "The teacher was placed under arrest and we are still conducting investigations."

Tamale Technical Institute employees and students are furious about the situation. Another instructor, Selina Yeboah, said she couldn't believe it.

“I’ve worked with Mr. Kwasi for years, and I never thought he would get involved in something like this. It’s embarrassing,” she said.

Abdul’s classmates have also voiced their concern over the teacher’s behavior.

“We never expected our teacher to act like this. It’s really disturbing,” said Hassan Abubakar, a friend of Abdul.

In a brief statement, Mr. Kwasi admitted to his actions but claimed the situation got out of hand.

“I made a mistake, and I deeply regret the way I acted. It was wrong, and I am sorry to Abdul and the entire school,” he said.

The police are continuing their investigations and will decide whether Mr. Kwasi will face charges for assault.

Meanwhile, Fatimah has distanced herself from both men, saying the incident was a misunderstanding over an issue she never wanted to be involved in.
