To begin his term, John Dumelo, the recently elected MP for the Greater Accra Region's Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, has offered free bus transportation for University of Ghana, Legon students to return home for the Christmas season.
This gesture is a thank you for the tremendous support that students gave Dumelo in the parliamentary elections held on December 7, which he won handily.
He defeated Lydia Alhassan, the incumbent Member of Parliament, and achieved his goal of representing the Constituency in Parliament thanks to his victory, which was especially strong in polling places throughout the University of Ghana.
The free bus service will run on Saturday, December 21, 2024, and will proceed to a number of cities, including Cape Coast, Winneba, Elmina, Ho, Takoradi, Ejisu, Konongo, and Kumasi.
Students are expected to meet at the Volta Hall parking lot, where the buses will leave.
"Dear Legon students, let me take you back home free for your Xmas holidays," Dumelo wrote in a social media post offering his appreciation to the pupils.
I do it for you, you know! Buses for all students are free!
