Accusations of impropriety led to the dismissal of former Jasikan Circuit Court Judge Alfred Kwabena Asiedu, who has filed a lawsuit against the Attorney General, Chief Justice Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, and the Judicial Service. The former judge was fired after being accused of power abuse, sexual exploitation, and malicious prosecution, as detailed in a letter dated November 13, 2023.

The controversy started when Singari Diana Sadia petitioned the Chief Justice on January 16 alleging that Asiedu had engaged in inappropriate behavior and had used his position to sexually abuse customers. His dismissal and order to turn over all official assets, such as his car, court dockets, and record books, to the Judicial Secretary were the results of the ensuing disciplinary actions.

Asiedu is currently requesting a judicial ruling that his termination was illegal. He argues that his rights were infringed and that the procedure that resulted in his deportation did not follow the proper legal procedures. He has designated the Chief Justice, the Attorney General, and the Judicial Service as respondents in his legal action.

Due to the seriousness of the accusations and the prominent personalities of the parties involved, this case has garnered public attention. A major court case, Judge Asiedu's complaint calls into question the power dynamics at work as well as the judicial disciplinary processes. How the courts respond to these charges and whether the fired judge can prove his claims of wrongful termination are still up in the air.
