In order to promote Ghana's rich historical festivals, National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama has emphasized his dedication to working with chiefs and other traditional authorities.
According to him, these festivals serve as more than just festivities; they are chances to advance cultural tourism, strengthen regional economies, and introduce the world to our legacy.
"We can improve our festivals' impact and visibility by collaborating closely with traditional leaders, which will benefit our communities," Mr. Mahama wrote on Facebook during his visit to the Ga Mantse's palace on Thursday, November 28.
He met with the Ga Traditional Council during the tour as a component of my Greater Accra Region #Mahama4Change2024 campaign.
"Thank you, Queen Mothers, Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, and King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II. The presentation of enticing customs and culture, as well as the enlightening conversation with our traditional leaders, confirmed the significance of traditional authority in our society and the need to build trusting connections with them.
I emphasized during our conversations that we are dedicated to working with traditional leaders, including chiefs, to promote our rich historical events. More than just festivities, these festivals offer chances to expose our heritage to the world, encourage cultural tourism, and strengthen local economies.
He posted on Facebook following the visit, saying, "By collaborating closely with traditional leaders, we can improve our communities and increase the visibility and impact of our festivals."
He continued by saying, "We will expand the representation of traditional authority inside our decentralized institutions, as stated in our 2024 #ResettingGhana Manifesto. In order to create policies that represent the interests and goals of our people, their opinions and participation are extremely valuable.
"I have always thought that a more effective and inclusive system that respects our cultural heritage may be achieved by giving traditional leaders more authority to participate more actively in governance.
"I pledge to strengthen our ties with our chiefs going forward. They are not only important participants in our growth agenda, but also stewards of our traditions. I am thrilled about the opportunities that lie ahead as we work together with all traditional authorities across the country to improve our communities.
