During the transitional period following the December 2024 elections, a regional organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned the Akufo-Addo administration's Directors of State that they are selling state-owned Land Cruisers at drastically reduced prices.
On January 13, 2025, the regional director stated emphatically in a radio interview that he plans to reclaim all of these automobiles, which he believes were sold unlawfully. "I'm on a mission to recover all Land Cruisers stolen by Directors of State," he announced. "I don't need authority from anyone because I'm the regional director of the NDC."
He further emphasized that his mission is not only political but also a matter of justice for the people of Ghana. "I'm sending this notice through your medium: every Director of State who served under the previous government and used the transitional period to auction Land Cruisers must return them immediately. If you don't bring them, you will see me and my team in your house."
The director’s warning extended beyond a call for return; it carried a fierce undertone of accountability. "So those who think they can stop me, I am sending them this warning that I will be moving like a hawk, and they won't even see me coming," he added. His words reflected a level of determination that resonated with many listeners, especially those concerned about what they believe to be mismanagement of public assets.
According to the NDC regional organizer, some of these state vehicles were sold at shockingly low prices, ranging between GH¢7,000 and GH¢15,000, a fraction of their actual worth. "Those who wickedly auctioned state vehicles for such paltry sums, I’m coming after you, and those who bought them too," he warned.
He further stated that the time for action is now, giving the accused individuals a 72-hour ultimatum to return the Land Cruisers or face the consequences. "We know all your locations and we are coming for you," he concluded, leaving little doubt about his intent.
The controversy surrounding the auctioned vehicles has raised eyebrows across the political landscape, with many questioning whether proper protocols were followed during the sale of state assets. Whether the regional director’s threat will prompt action remains to be seen, but his firm stance has certainly made headlines in Ghanaian politics.
