Beatrice Annan, the spokesperson for John Dramani Mahama's campaign team, claims that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's digitization initiative is a deception.

In her opinion, the digitization drive is merely an attempt by the ruling administration to blindly deprive Ghanaians of their rights.

She made this comment in response to a recent exposé that claimed the National Service Secretariat's (NSS) books had over 40,000 phantom names.

In a series of posts on X, @GhanaCrimes and @Datanomics_inflate the number of active NSS staff by forty thousand. 40,000 ghost names are allegedly employed by state institutions and receive a monthly allowance of GHC 715 like clockwork.

This offense is said to have been committed for about 36 months, or three (3) lengthy years.

In other words, the syndicate or individuals who receive the gratuities on behalf of these 40,000 ghost people earn an astounding GHC343 million annually for three years.

It is further being alleged that Gifty Oware-Aboagye Deputy Executive Director, General Services at the National Service Secretariat oversaw the payment of these allowances into the accounts of the 40,000 ghost service personnel.

Reacting to the scandal on her X page, Beatrice Annan quoted a story attributed to Dr. Bawumia which read “Ghost names eliminated from government payroll through Ghana Card”.

She captioned the screenshot “Bawumia’s digitalization could not detect the 40,000 fake beneficiaries of our taxes at the NSS. The joke is on Bawumia and the NPP. The lies are too many.”
