He sought to promote harmony across the various faiths in the area, therefore his leadership was not limited to the Muslim community.
There have been reports that Sheikh Haroun had been ill for a few days and was being treated.
He unfortunately died early on Tuesday morning after his health declined.
The Muslim community and beyond are in deep sorrow over the news of his passing.
Leaders from a number of community and religious organizations have sent their sympathies.
The late Imam was characterized by the Ghana Muslim Mission as a unifier and a tower of strength.
The region's Christian and traditional authorities also recognized his contribution to fostering interfaith understanding and peacemaking.
Fast preparations are being made for Sheikh Haroun's funeral, as is traditional in Islamic culture.
According to Islamic customs, his funeral is anticipated to occur within 24 hours after his passing.
It is expected that thousands of mourners, including residents, religious leaders, and community leaders, will attend the celebration in his honor.
Sheikh Haroun dedicated his life to providing for his community.
Addressing issues that Muslims in the area faced, such as social development and educational access, was made possible in large part by him.
Many people recall him for his ability to settle disputes amicably and his cool head.
Not just the Ashanti Region but Ghana as a nation has suffered a great loss with his passing.
