Following the demolition of former President Akufo-Addo's statue at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital roundabout, a Sekondi-Takoradi resident expressed excitement.

When the road was still unfinished, the citizen said it was absurd to have a statue dedicated to former President Akufo-Addo.

The situation would have been different if the statue had been placed after the road was finished. It's okay if it's been destroyed. "I am happy that the statue has been demolished," he remarked.

"I honestly can't wait to see the wreckage. The road, not the monument, is what we're searching for. The road would have been fine if they had completed it and put up the statue. However, he said, "Why do it while the road was not finished?

Someone unknown has demolished the statue of former president Akufo-Addo at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi.

There have been claims that the statue was demolished on January 13, 2025, at around 1:30 am.

A few weeks prior to this devastation, the statue was defaced, with a hole made in the leg that was quickly repaired.

The statue, which was unveiled in remembrance of the former president on November 6, 2024, was widely criticized by Ghanaians. Its suitability and timing were questioned, especially in view of other urgent developmental requirements.
