According to Adomeonline,in preparation for Ghana’s 2024 general elections, Senior High Schools (SHSs) will observe a break starting Thursday, December 7. The Ministry of Education announced the break to allow students to participate in the electoral process and ensure their safety during the election period. The timing is strategically chosen to minimize disruptions to academic activities during election day.

The decision follows consultations with the Electoral Commission and other stakeholders to ensure that students are not impacted by election events while also promoting civic responsibility. Students eligible to vote will have the opportunity to cast their ballots without academic commitments.

Educational authorities have emphasized that the break will have minimal impact on the academic calendar, with students expected to return to school after the election period. Students are encouraged to use the time productively, either by preparing for their return or engaging in community-focused activities related to the elections.

This initiative is part of broader efforts to ensure a peaceful and orderly election process in Ghana, allowing students to actively participate in the country’s democratic process while maintaining a smooth academic schedule.
