In a historic moment, outgoing President Nana Akuffo-Addo has arrived at the Black Star Square, the venue for the inauguration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama.
However, his expression told a different story, as he was spotted with a frowning face.
Despite the somber expression, President Akuffo-Addo’s presence at the ceremony underscores the peaceful transfer of power, a hallmark of Ghana’s democratic process.
The inauguration ceremony, which is expected to draw thousands of Ghanaians and foreign dignitaries, marks the beginning of Mahama’s second term as president.
As the crowd awaits the swearing-in ceremony, the atmosphere is filled with excitement and anticipation.
The Independence Square, where the ceremony is taking place, was closed from midnight on December 31, 2024, to January 8, 2025, as part of the security arrangements to ensure a smooth and secure inauguration ceremony.
With President Akuffo-Addo’s arrival, the stage is set for the formal transfer of power to President-elect Mahama.
Despite the initial somber expression, it remains to be seen how the rest of the ceremony will unfold.
