The importance of adhering to parliamentary procedures has been emphasized by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the MP for Ofoase-Ayirebi, according to Citi News.
In light of Speaker Alban Bagbin's decision to prohibit Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor and Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Majority and Minority Chief Whips, as well as Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli and Jerry Ahmed Shaib from parliamentary sessions for two weeks beginning January 31, 2025, this statement was delivered.
In response to violent incidents that occurred at the Appointments Committee meeting that same day, the suspensions were implemented.
Speaking to Channel One Newsroom on Saturday, Oppong Nkrumah acknowledged the Speaker's justifiable annoyance but underlined the importance of following protocol.
The significance of adhering to the standing regulations that regulate parliamentary behavior was brought up by him.
He also pledged to see to it that the Speaker is reminded of appropriate procedures.
In the hopes of ensuring proper adherence to the regulations going forward, Oppong Nkrumah said that measures will be taken to draw the Speaker's attention to the pertinent instructions.
When the Speaker is made aware of these directives, we expect he will make sure the proper action is taken," Oppong Nkrumah continued.
