The Electoral Commission (EC) has been ordered by the High Court to finish compiling the results of the two unresolved polling station applications in Tema Central.

This ruling is in response to an application submitted by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which also covers the Okaikwei Central, Techiman South, and Ablekuma North constituencies.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) objected to the court's jurisdiction to consider the application, but the court dismissed their objection, leading to the court's decision.

The legal team of the NPP, headed by Gary Nimako, contended that the EC ought to be forced to finish compiling the results in the impacted constituencies. Nimako claimed that between December 8, 2024, and January 1, 2025, the EC was unable to complete the collation procedure.

First, the NDC's Ebi Bright was proclaimed the victor in Tema Central. Charles Forson of the NPP, however, was proclaimed the victor after an EC re-collection. The delay was caused by threats to the EC's employees in Tema Central.

The court further directed Dr. George Akufo-Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, to provide sufficient security in order to guarantee the uninterrupted completion of the collation process.
