In a heartfelt revelation, Apostle Lilian Kumah, widow of the late Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Ejisu, John Kumah, has addressed rumors surrounding his untimely death. In an exclusive interview with Asaase News, she firmly dismissed claims that her husband died from food poisoning, revealing instead that he succumbed to a terminal illness he had been battling for over a year.

Apostle Kumah disclosed that her husband was diagnosed with a blood-related illness during a medical examination in Germany in mid-2023. From that time, his health steadily declined, despite receiving treatment both in Ghana and abroad. She emphasized that no medical report from Ghana or Germany ever suggested food poisoning as a cause of his condition, categorically refuting the rumors spread by sections of the media. She expressed her pain and frustration at the baseless allegations, particularly those made by media personality Captain Smart, who publicly claimed that John Kumah had been poisoned. “I don’t understand why anyone would make such harmful claims about my husband without any evidence,” she said. “These accusations have caused my family unnecessary pain, and I urge the authorities to take action against those spreading these falsehoods.”

Apostle Kumah called for an end to the speculation, urging the public to respect her family’s grief and the late MP’s memory. She also highlighted her husband’s unwavering dedication to his work, even as he battled illness.

John Kumah passed away on March 7, 2024, at the Suhum Government Hospital. He had been en route to Accra for further medical treatment when his condition suddenly worsened. Despite doctors' efforts, he could not be stabilized.

In her emotional plea, Mrs. Kumah emphasized the importance of honoring her husband’s legacy with truth and dignity. She remains committed to preserving his memory and ensuring that the facts of his passing are respected and upheld.
