According to the Majority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the four independent members of parliament have declared their intention to work with the house's Majority Caucus.
Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as Kwame A Plus, for Gomoa Central; Nandaya Yaw Stanley for Wulensi; Dr. Ohene Kwame Frimpong for Asante Akim North; and Worlasi Kpeli, an NDC member who ran as an independent, for Afram Plains North.
It is not possible for the four independent Members of Parliament to form a third force in the House because they do not number seven.
Accordingly, each of them must formally write to the Speaker on their own behalf to notify him of their choice to sit and conduct business with the Majority Caucus in accordance with House procedures.
At the moment, all four of them have written to us. Thus, we'll hold off until they formally write to you, Mr. Speaker.
"Mr. Speaker," he said in parliament on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, "my attention [has been drawn to the fact] that up until now, the MP for Gomoa Central has written to us, but the rest are yet to write to confirm their positions."
