As part of the recently revealed cabinet list, President John Dramani Mahama has designated Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as the Minister of Finance-designate.
He has previously been a member of the nation's Economic Management Team and the Deputy Minister for Finance in 2013.
Dr. Forson is a fiscal economist, chartered accountant, tax practitioner, and entrepreneur with twenty years of experience in the public and private sectors. He is also a Ghanaian lawmaker.
A number of boards, such as the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) and the Bank of Ghana, have had Dr. Ato Forson on them.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson's educational background includes a first degree in accounting from South Bank University in London.
He has two master's degrees: one in economics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana, and another in taxation from the University of Oxford, UK.
He received his PhD in Business and Management (Finance option) from KNUST in September 2020.
Prior positions held by him included Chief Executive Officer of Omega Africa Holding Limited and Managing Director of Forson Contracts Limited in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has vigorously defended accountability, openness, and good governance throughout his career.
He is highly regarded throughout Ghana and the Central Region for his commitment to serve his people and nation.
