By decreasing the number of ministries from thirty to twenty-three through an Executive Instrument, President John Dramani Mahama has taken a daring step toward reforming the government. His pledge during the campaign to cut back on the number of ministries and cut down on government waste is consistent with this action.
It is anticipated that fewer ministries will result in a more effective and efficient system of government. In order to cut down on duplication and lessen the financial strain on the state, the government is combining some ministries.
President Mahama's larger endeavor to reestablish economic stability and advance good governance includes this action. During his campaign, he promised to enforce compliance with internal and external financial control systems and to cut down on waste, cost overruns, and institutional borrowing.
The reduction in ministries is a significant step towards achieving these goals, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the country's economy and governance structure.
