Complete vandalism has been committed to the statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, which was erected at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital roundabout in Sekondi, Western Region.

The memorial, which was unveiled to honor the previous president's efforts during his term, has sustained damage twice already.

When unknown perpetrators damaged the statue's leg on December 16, 2024, it was the first instance of vandalism. Soon after, authorities fixed the monument, but no one was taken into custody in relation to the crime, thus it remains unclear why the criminals did it.

Less than a week has passed since Akufo-Addo stepped down as president, and the statue has since been completely destroyed.

In order to represent his administration's dedication to enhancing infrastructure and healthcare in the Western Region, authorities erected the statue under Akufo-Addo's administration.

It was positioned close to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital as a reminder of the former president's government's efforts to increase access to resources and medical care in underprivileged communities.
