The respected Chief Justice of Ghana, Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, receives a handsome monthly salary of about GHC 36,000, according to StatsGH.

The fact that she is required to do so by Article 71 of the Ghanaian Constitution highlights the crucial position she plays in the country's judicial system.

A variety of substantial benefits and allowances are provided to Justice Torkornoo in addition to her base pay, which completes her remuneration package. Her safety is guaranteed at all times, whether she is on official business or engaging in personal activities, thanks to state-provided protection with devoted bodyguards.

She is also given a government-maintained and government-fueled official car and chauffeur services for easy travel throughout the nation for official judicial duties.

The Chief Justice lives in well equipped housing in Accra, which is ideally situated close to court centers, providing yet another important advantage. The well-being of Justice Torkornoo and her immediate family members is guaranteed by comprehensive healthcare coverage.

In keeping with the Chief Justice's position in the international legal scene, the government pays for all travel costs for judicial conferences and overseas activities.

In addition to financial benefits, the position gives Justice Torkornoo access to funding intended to support administrative requirements and judicial operations, promoting effectiveness and ongoing advancements in the legal system.

Significant non-monetary benefits are also associated with the role, including as professional reputation, the ability to advocate for judicial issues at the highest governmental levels, and influence over legal reforms. These disclosures demonstrate how Ghana's Chief Justice has received extensive support and recognition, enabling her to successfully enforce justice and the rule of law throughout the country.
