Three men were found guilty by the Ho Circuit Court of participating in a robbery that resulted in GH₵825,000 in cash and valuables, and they were given a total sentence of 125 years in jail with hard labor.

Ernest Sokpi Amevor, a 32-year-old driver and self-described peacemaker; Mark Billy Agbozo, a 31-year-old teacher; and Nzete Chukunhru Best, a 28-year-old dealer of used clothing, are the convicted individuals.

Sections 20(1) and 149(1) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29), as amended by the Criminal Offences (Amendment) Act 2003 (Act 646), were used to convict the men.

The heist took place in the Volta Region at Ayitikope-Akatsi on May 29, 2021. A Daewoo taxicab with registration number GE 3739-12 was used by the criminals to break into lottery agent Atsu Kumordzi's home.

GH₵160,000, which is equal to GH₵640,000 in CFA Francs, and GH₵25,000 that belonged to Peace Lordeena Sedofia were taken by them.

After being looked into, the case was forwarded to the Attorney General's office for consultation. After a rigorous trial, which was overseen by His Lordship Felix Datsomor, the three were found guilty on several counts.

For their respective offenses, the accused were each given a 25-year sentence that was to be served consecutively.

Six more accomplices who allegedly assisted the crime and worked as spies are still being sought.
