As to Ghana Web's report today, Kwame Mensah, a university student in Ashaiman, has been arrested for reportedly killing his girlfriend Ama Serwaa after discovering her having an affair with another man.

In addition to shocking the local community, the tragedy has sparked worries about violence among young adults.

An unexpected return to Ama's home occurred on the evening of January 10, 2025, according to the Ashaiman District Police, involving Mensah, a 22-year-old student at a nearby institution.

The 22-year-old Ama was allegedly found in a compromising condition with another man when he entered. Mensah is said to have killed Ama by attacking her out of rage.

After a furious altercation, the neighbors said they heard cries. One neighbor, who asked not to be named, claimed to have heard shouting followed by a loud crash. Something was horribly wrong, and I knew it.

The second man who was at the incident escaped and gave the police a statement later. He told,

Kwame abruptly entered the room and began to rant. Fearing for my life, I rushed away as quickly as I could.

Concerned neighbors called the police, and they arrived shortly after. They detained Mensah on the spot after discovering Ama's lifeless body. Daniel Owusu, an Ashaiman District Police inspector, said,

"We are carrying out a comprehensive investigation and have placed the suspect under arrest. As we collect all the details, we ask the people to maintain composure in the wake of this catastrophe."

Ama's loss has crushed her family. Her mother, Madam Efua Serwaa, said with tears in her eyes,

"Ama was an intelligent and devoted daughter. Why someone would harm her in this way is beyond our comprehension.

In a statement, the university where Ama and Mensah both attended expressed sympathy for Ama's family and denounced the violent conduct.

"We are extremely grieved by one of our students' passing. The statement said, "We are offering counseling services to those impacted and are working with law enforcement throughout this investigation."

The need for improved conflict resolution training for young adults has been brought up by this incident. According to Mrs. Adjoa Mensimah, a local counselor,

"It is essential that people learn to control their emotions, such as rage and envy. Violence has terrible repercussions, as this unfortunate example has demonstrated.

Currently being jailed at the Ashaiman District Police Station, Mensah is anticipated to face murder charges. Also, Inspector Owusu said,

"The suspect will be subject to the full force of the law. We're determined to give the victim and her family justice."
