On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, police in Walewale ambushed and burned a Kia Rhino truck that was traveling from Bawku to Kumasi.
While President John Dramani Mahama was visiting Bawku and Nalerigu to address the ongoing chieftaincy conflict in the communities, the incident took place.
The North East Region saw an attack on the truck that was carrying vegetables from Mognori in the Bawku Municipality to Kumasi.
The Bolgatanga-Tamale highway has seen an increase in attacks on travelers as a result of the region's protracted chieftaincy and ethnic conflicts.
