Vincent Oppong Asamoah, a former deputy minister of sports, has declared that he will openly turn down President John Dramani Mahama's offer to become Minister of Sports and Recreation.

The Minister of Sports and Recreation has not yet been nominated by President Mahama. Nonetheless, Oppong Asamoah has received a nomination for the position.

The former deputy minister of sports, alleging insults from Ghanaians, begged not to be considered for the top position in an interview with Happy Sports.

"No, because of these numerous insults, I don't want it. "I won't accept a role that is full of insults, even if I listen to the President," Oppong Asamoah emphasized.

"Sports is not an option because you'll go home without enough money but with lots of insults."

In addition, Oppong Asamoah argued that sports in Ghana are generally declining and suggested that Ghana should take inspiration from nations where sports are more popular.

You will concur with me that Ghanaian sports are going downhill. Certain nations are succeeding, and we should observe them and take inspiration from their strategies. We must return to investigate the cause of the issue.
