Prior to the inauguration ceremony on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, departing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo extended a warm welcome to President-elect John Dramani Mahama on Monday, January 6, at Flagstaff House for a familiarization tour.

A seamless transition procedure as the official handover ceremony draws near was the goal of the visit.

As the transition of government duties was being prepared, President Akufo-Addo gave the incoming president-elect a tour of the Jubilee House and declared his unwavering support for him.

"Another Vice President-elect, you are welcome, the nation is waiting for you tomorrow," President Akufo-Addo remarked.

Accompanying the president-elect was Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the vice president-elect, who also used the occasion to acquaint herself with the amenities and setting of her future official office.

The opportunity was taken by Mr. Mahama to thank the departing President from the bottom of his heart and to commend the seamless transfer.

"Chief of Staff, I want to thank you and your team for a kind and seamless transition. "With the information we have, we are quite prepared to begin working as soon as the inauguration is over tomorrow," he said.

The President was also reassured by Mr. Mahama of his dedication to cooperation and good government in the days ahead.

“You can count on us even in government that we will continue the spirit of cooperation,” he concluded.
