The Gbese Stool has sent a strong warning to anyone trying to build unapproved constructions on the Kantamanto territories, under the leadership of Paramount Chief Nii Ayi Bonte II.
At a recent news conference, the chief made it clear that the Gbese Stool, not the government, is the rightful owner of the property, according to an article published by CitiNewsRoom on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
Nii Ayi Bonte II highlighted the stool's development goals and declared plans to collaborate with investors to enhance the area's value.
In order to maintain order and respect for traditional authority, he emphasized that unauthorized reconstruction would not be permitted.
The land is owned by someone, thus nobody should break the law by erecting any wooden buildings.
"We will never tolerate this mindset again," he said.
Following a tragic fire that destroyed the busy Kantamanto Market on January 2, 2025, this warning is being issued.
Due to the destruction of the once-thriving commercial center, traders are now dealing with substantial losses.
As plans for redevelopment take shape, the Gbese Stool is remaining dedicated to guaranteeing the land's proper usage and is urging all parties involved to honor the traditional custodianship.
