One prominent character in Ghana's social media scene, Hajia Bintu, is accustomed to generating news. She recently caused a stir when she promoted "Kayamata," a line of goods that she says can improve one's attractiveness, build connections, or draw in partners through purportedly spiritual ways.


When the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) noticed this, they pointed out that they are not legally tasked with monitoring products that make spiritual claims. When some 'concerned' people had concerns about her advertisements, this correction was delivered.

With a recent video that features the hashtag "fashionnovacurve," Hajia Bintu is once again making news. Not all of the attention that this video is receiving on social media is good. She is being criticized by about 90% of viewers for what they perceive to be her desperate attempt to become a brand spokesperson, while some are making comments about her appearance.

Online users claim that Hajia Bintu regularly tags clothes Nova, a well-known online store for women's clothes, in videos she uploads. It is widely assumed that she is trying to attract their attention in order to land a lucrative brand ambassador contract with the business. This approach is perceived as a means for her to get some revenue.



Some negative comments regarding her appearance are mixed in with the remaining 10% of comments. Some user comments were as follows:

User 4: "Ghanaian girl dey want Fashion Nova deal so bad but the clothing line too no dey see them."

User 5: "Chale, them press the bre@st saa…make the breast dey ask forgiveness."
