The way that former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia are treated within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has drawn criticism from Kwaku Manu, a well-known Ghanaian actor and prominent supporter of the NPP. The NPP will probably stop Dr. Bawumia from standing for president again now that Nana Addo is out of office, Kwaku Manu asserted in an interview.

Nana Addo elevated Dr. Bawumia within the party, according to Manu, by using his power as president. He thinks the party's powerful members will use their position of authority to marginalize Bawumia now that Nana Addo is no longer in charge.

Since Nana Addo left the NPP, the party will not permit Dr. Bawumia to run for president once more, he said. They believe that Nana Addo exploited his presidential authority to elevate Dr. Bawumia. They will demonstrate that the party is theirs now that he is out of office by using their resources and connections.

Additionally, Manu considered the changing dynamics within the party, implying that Nana Addo no longer enjoys the same level of respect as he did during his administration. These days, even NPP members will remind Nana Addo, "When you're on the seat, that's when you have power," if he misbehaves. Now that you're off the seat, no one is afraid of you.

Additionally, Manu considered how Nana Addo's handling of several issues, especially those involving traditional leaders, caused unhappiness. He criticized the former president, arguing that his interactions with kings and chiefs were improper and that they had a negative impact on his declining standing in the party.
