National Democratic Congress (NDC) Greater Accra Regional Chairman Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore has said that new Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) will be appointed by President John Dramani Mahama in the next 14 days.

Ashie Moore reassured that the prompt appointment is a part of a larger plan to restore order and guarantee a smooth transition under the new administration, in response to fresh allegations of vandalism and unauthorized takeovers of state institutions by some people posing as NDC supporters.

According to the machinery of our party, we are also screening the nominations of potential candidates for those positions this week. This allows me to assure the party members, particularly those in my area, that, if all goes according to plan, we will also have MMDCEs in place by the end of the next 14 days, so they should work with us, he said.

The move comes after President Mahama quickly revoked all of President Akufo-Addo's nominations to the MMDCE. The Local Governance Act of 2016 (Act 936) and the Local Governance (Amendment) Act of 2017 (Act 940%) are in accordance with the ruling. In a letter, Dr.

According to Callistus Mahama, the President's executive secretary, the modifications have been duly communicated to the Chief Director of the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development. In each Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assembly (MMDA), Coordinating Directors will act as interim chief executives until new members are appointed.

Asserting the NDC's opposition to vandalism and unauthorized takeovers, Ashie Moore asked party members to be on the lookout and report any illegal activity to the proper authorities."I have met with the regional police commander, and together, we are working to ensure law and order across the region," he continued.

He further called on NDC members to exercise patience and cooperate with authorities during the transition period."We are taking proactive steps to ensure that state institutions are protected and the right leadership is in place to address the needs of Ghanaians,” Ashie Moore concluded.
