After storming the Bui Power Authority (BPA) on Saturday, a group of roughly thirty people posing as members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) demanded that all employees, from management to lower-level staff, be immediately removed.

According to the group, it was time for the current workforce to leave their jobs because of the recent change in administration. They claimed that their anger with BPA's purported inefficiencies, nepotism, and financial mismanagement was what drove them to act in this way. Additionally, they asserted that the Authority had hired people in a politically biased manner during the previous eight years.

In a video circulating on social media, a spokesperson for the group didn’t mince words. "All these people must pack their things and leave. For eight years, we’ve seen nothing. No progress, no change. We’ve had enough," he declared.

The group further claimed that the nomination of a new Minister of Energy signals a shift in leadership, and they believe all current employees, including receptionists and security staff, should step down. The protesters expressed anger over the economic hardships facing ordinary Ghanaians, contrasting it with what they described as the privileges enjoyed by BPA employees.

"We are fed up. Not even John Mahama can stop us because this country belongs to all of us," the spokesperson said, emphasizing that their actions were for the benefit of the average Ghanaian and not just party members.

The group warned of intensifying their protests if their demands were not met. "Next time, nobody will stop us," they vowed, hinting at more drastic actions if they feel ignored.

Their actions come just a day after President John Dramani Mahama urged party supporters, particularly the youth, to refrain from lawless behavior and respect the rule of law during this period of transition.

The protest underscores the tension and frustrations surrounding power transitions and highlights growing calls for accountability and reforms in public institutions.
