Massboss Entertainment, organizers of the prestigious Ashaiman Music Awards, has made a remarkable return to the entertainment scene in 2024 with the Ashaiman Music and Cultural Festival. This event, held on October 26th, brought together people of diverse cultural backgrounds to celebrate and project Ashaiman’s rich cultural heritage while promoting peace ahead of the December elections.

The Ashaiman Music Awards, a widely celebrated initiative, was recognized by the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) for its commitment to rewarding the excellence and hard work of Ashaiman-based creatives. From its inception until 2020, the scheme highlighted the unique talents of artists within the municipality, honoring both emerging and established stars such as Stonebwoy, Eno Barony, Fancy Gadam, and Wendy Shay. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic led to its hiatus in 2020, and the awards were put on hold. However, the Ashaiman Music and Cultural Festival has marked Massboss Entertainment’s dynamic return, reestablishing the brand’s role in the cultural development of Ashaiman and beyond.

Held under the auspices of the Ashaiman Traditional Council, the inaugural festival spotlighted Ashaiman’s cultural diversity by bringing various ethnic groups together. Traditional leaders and sub-chiefs, including the head of the Ashaiman Traditional Council, HRM Nii Anang Adzor, participated to demonstrate the unity in diversity that defines Ashaiman. Other dignitaries in attendance included the Ashaiman Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent Osman Alhassan; Hon. Albert Okyere, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ashaiman; and key political figures vying for the Ashaiman parlimentary seat, such as the incumbent MP, Ernest Henry Norgbey, and Justice King Amevor Essiel of the NPP. The new wind blowing within the Ashaiman constituency yet, is ticked to take Ashaiman by storm, Adam Gaddafi Kudah, an independent parliamentary candidate, also attended, adding to the inclusive representation.

The event’s central message focused on promoting peace and unity in the lead-up to the December 7th elections. Leaders and attendees alike preached messages of solidarity, emphasizing the importance of peaceful elections within Ashaiman’s culturally rich community. Clergy members present reinforced these calls for peace, uniting the community under a shared goal of harmony.

The festival, which is now recognized as the second most impactful event in Ashaiman after Stonebwoy’s annual “Ashaiman to the World” concert, celebrated the vibrant talents within the community.

Audiences enjoyed spectacular performances from local artists and the headliners; Snares JE, Masboy, Cwasi, St Lenon, Kasar and DSL. These performances showcased Ashaiman’s dynamic entertainment scene, reinforcing the festival’s mission to uplift budding creatives and cultural performers from the area.

Massboss Entertainment’s Ashaiman Music and Cultural Festival has laid a solid foundation for annual celebrations of culture and creativity in the Ashaiman Municipality. The festival, is expected to continue fostering community pride, honoring cultural diversity, and promoting peace among the residents of Ashaiman and neighboring communities. The success of its debut underscores the enduring value of Ashaiman’s culture, art, and unity, making it a beacon of positive change in Ghana’s cultural landscape.

This year’s event was held at the iconic Ashaiman Presby park in the township of Ashaiman.
