The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, has called on media professionals covering today’s elections to actively engage the EC for timely updates and clarifications.
Addressing the media during a briefing, she highlighted the importance of accurate reporting in ensuring a transparent and peaceful electoral process.
She urged journalists to use the Commission’s dedicated toll number (0800324324 ) to verify information or report any issues arising during the voting process. She assured the media of the EC’s commitment to providing real-time assistance to support their work.
“We urge all media persons to reach out to us using the toll number provided. We are available to address any concerns or provide clarification promptly. This collaboration will ensure accurate information is shared across all parts of your work,” Ms. Mensa stated.
The EC Chair emphasized the role of the media in maintaining public confidence in the electoral process.
She cautioned against the dissemination of unverified reports, particularly during this critical period.
“Journalists have a significant role to play in shaping public perception. We ask for your cooperation in upholding the integrity of the process by sharing only verified and credible information,” she added.
Ms. Mensa also commended media personnel for their dedication and professionalism in covering the elections, describing them as essential partners in Ghana’s democratic journey.
The Electoral Commission’s toll number has been made available to journalists and the general public, serving as a direct line for inquiries, updates, and addressing potential concerns during the elections.
