The residence of former Member of Parliament (MP) John Peter Amewu in Hohoe was allegedly invaded by armed men claiming to be National Security operatives.

Key Details:
The armed individuals introduced themselves as bailiffs acting on “orders from above”.
They accused Amewu of not being legitimately elected during the 2020 parliamentary elections.
Mr. Amewu was not home when the incident occurred on Wednesday.
The armed men reportedly fired warning shots, leading to a standoff with his supporters.
Eyewitness Account & Mr. Amewu’s Response:
According to an eyewitness, the intruders claimed they were serving a notice, disputing the validity of his election and questioning the legality of the Constitutional Instrument (C.I.) governing the electoral process.

Mr. Amewu, speaking to Citi News, expressed concern over the attack, questioning democratic practices in Ghana.

"They said they were there to serve me a notice because I was not duly elected in 2020, hence their decision to serve me. And that the C.I. was not constitutional," Amewu recounted.

Despite the seriousness of the incident, he has declined police protection but confirmed that his supporters in Hohoe have reported the attack to the police.

Awaiting Official Response
Authorities have not yet provided further details regarding the invasion or the identity of the alleged security operatives.
