Kwahu Mpraeso, April 19, 2025 — Deputy Minister of Finance, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, has disclosed that the government will soon initiate talks with transport operators to reduce lorry fares in response to the recent drop in fuel prices.

Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum, Mr. Nyarko stated that the move is expected to complement efforts to reduce inflation and improve the cost of living for Ghanaians.

“As a government, we have committed and have started bringing down inflation. In fact, we are hoping that with the next inflation announcement, we see a significant improvement,” he said.

“Fuel prices are going down. In the next couple of weeks, we’ll have to engage transport operators so that they will also bring down lorry fares. Once all these happen, it will have a positive impact on inflation, and it will help us as a country.”

🤝 Inclusive Dialogue for Growth
Mr. Nyarko also praised the Kwahu Business Forum as a platform that fosters unity and collaboration between the public and private sectors. He noted that the participation of opposition leaders, including the Minority Leader, signals the government’s inclusive approach to economic development.

“The presence of the Minority Leader and everybody shows that the government wants to bring everybody—the private sector, everyone—together so that we can push the growth that we need in this country,” he added.
