President John Dramani Mahama has ordered a thorough investigation into allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering involving two suspicious flights at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The allegations were made by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South, during a press conference on April 1, 2025.

Government’s Response
In a statement shared on Facebook, President Mahama emphasized his government’s commitment to transparency and urgency in addressing the issue.

He has directed key investigative agencies—including the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police CID, the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator—to collaborate with Rev. Fordjour and conduct a comprehensive probe into the matter.

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Drug Trafficking
President Mahama reaffirmed Ghana’s strict stance against drug-related activities and cited a recent $350 million narcotics bust by the NIB as proof of the government’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking.

"Ghana will not serve as a transit or destination for illicit drugs. We are committed to safeguarding our nation’s security and reputation," he stated.

Next Steps
The investigative agencies will work together to verify the claims and track all individuals involved.

The government has assured the public of full transparency and swift action if wrongdoing is uncovered.

More details on the progress of the investigation are expected in the coming weeks.

This latest directive underscores the government’s determination to crack down on illicit activities and uphold Ghana’s integrity on the international stage.
