The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially named Ghana as the host nation for the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship, set to take place from April 21 to April 26. The tournament’s final matches will be played at the Legon Sports Stadium, located at the University of Ghana in Accra.
This marks the first time the championship’s continental finals will be hosted in West Africa, following previous editions in South Africa (2023) and Tanzania (2024). The tournament, introduced by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe in 2022, has grown significantly, with over 1.9 million boys and girls from 46 countries participating.
With financial support from the Motsepe Foundation, which donated $10 million, the championship not only provides prize money but also funds legacy projects such as school renovations, libraries, and infrastructure improvements. The winning team will receive $300,000, the runners-up $200,000, and the third-place team $150,000.
The 2025 edition will feature the top teams from CAF’s six zones, along with the winners of the 2023/24 season and host nation Ghana. Qualified teams include:

CAF, in partnership with CANAL+, aims to elevate the competition while fostering education and skill development. Alongside the matches, the tournament will include capacity-building programs such as CAF D License coaching courses, safeguarding workshops, and referee training.
The Legon Sports Stadium, a 10,000-seater venue completed for the 2023 African Games, will serve as the main venue, offering top-tier facilities for both competition and training programs.
CAF Director of Member Associations, Sarah Mukuna, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We look forward to an unforgettable tournament filled with passion, talent, and growth.”
