Once upon a time, in a village nestled deep in the heart of Africa, there lived a young man named Kofi. He was known for his strength and bravery, but what made him stand out was the deep love he had for his wife, Ama.

They were newlyweds, and their love story was the talk of the village. Everywhere they went, people admired how they smiled and held hands, as if no troubles could ever break them apart.

One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, Kofi and Ama sat by the fire in their small, beautiful home.

They laughed and shared stories, dreaming of their future together. But unknown to them, a jealous spirit from the forest was watching. This spirit, angry at their happiness, had a heart full of bitterness and sorrow.

It had roamed the land for centuries, bringing misfortune to those who lived in peace and harmony.

The next day, Kofi went to the market while Ama stayed behind to prepare their evening meal. As she worked, she heard a whisper coming from the fire in their hearth. "Ama," the fire called out softly.

Startled, she looked around but saw nothing. The whisper grew louder, "Ama, if you touch the flame, you will know the truth about your future."

Curious, and thinking it might be a sign from the ancestors, Ama reached out her hand. The moment her fingers grazed the fire, it flared up, burning with a strange, dark glow.

A cold chill ran through her, and suddenly, her mind was filled with terrifying visions—of Kofi turning against her, of their home engulfed in flames, of screams that echoed through the village.

Ama pulled her hand back, trembling. She didn’t understand what she had seen but felt a deep fear settle in her heart.

That evening, when Kofi returned home, something was different. The warmth between them was gone. Ama couldn’t shake the images from her mind, and Kofi sensed her distance.

Over the next few days, the love they once shared began to fade, replaced by anger, suspicion, and pain.

One night, in a fit of rage he couldn’t explain, Kofi picked up a knife. It was as if the spirit of the fire had taken control of him. Without thinking, without knowing why, he struck Ama.

Her cry echoed through the night, but before anyone could come to help, Kofi realized what he had done. In his grief, he set their house on fire, hoping the flames would erase his pain.

The villagers arrived too late. The home was reduced to ashes, and the spirit that had cursed them slipped back into the forest, satisfied with the sorrow it had caused.

From that day, the villagers told the tale of Kofi and Ama, warning others to never trust the whispers of a fire. It was said that their love, once strong and pure, was destroyed by jealousy and rage that did not belong to them.

The cursed flame had taken them, leaving nothing but a haunting memory behind.

And so, the village mourned, remembering that even the strongest love can be consumed if we let dark forces into our hearts.

Moral: Beware of the things that seek to divide us, for even the purest love can be destroyed by jealousy and anger that does not belong to us.
