A recent YouTube video titled *"Jean Mensah Panịc; NDC Warns EC: 'We Won't Allow You to Change JM #8 Ballot to Any Other Number"* has sparked heated debate in Ghana’s political circles. The video features outspoken NDC (National Democratic Congress) member Kelvin Taylor, who voiced concerns about the impact of presidential candidate Maame Akua Donkor’s recent death on the upcoming ballot arrangement.
Taylor criticized Jean Mensa, the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, alleging that there are plans to alter John Mahama’s ballot position due to Donkor’s death. Mahama, the NDC’s flagbearer, holds the #8 position on the ballot—a placement seen as symbolically important as he attempts to break the NPP’s (New Patriotic Party) eight-year rule.
In the video, Taylor accused the EC and the NPP of plotting to move Mahama’s position in a way that could undermine his campaign, a move he described as a deliberate attempt to disadvantage the NDC. He warned that the NDC would resist any such changes to the ballot.
This issue has drawn attention as Ghanaians eagerly await clarity from the EC on the ballot’s final arrangement. Watch the full video below for more details.
