Deputy Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), George Krobea Asante, has called on members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) to play a pivotal role in revitalizing the party’s grassroots support ahead of the upcoming general elections.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of TESCON executives at Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU), Mr. Asante emphasized the significance of student activism in shaping the future of the party. He urged members to take an active role in communicating the NPP’s vision and assured them of his unwavering support in providing training and guidance.

“TESCON members must take the lead in ensuring the NPP’s resurgence in the next elections. Your dedication and hard work will be crucial in securing victory for the party,” Mr. Asante stated.

He further charged the newly inducted executives to embark on an aggressive membership drive and establish a comprehensive database of TESCON members across various campuses. He highlighted the importance of mobilization and effective communication in strengthening the party’s support base among the youth.

Citing notable figures who once served as TESCON members, Mr. Asante referenced Bantama MP Francis Asenso Boakye, former Sports Minister Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Damango MP Samuel Abu Jinapor, Akuapem North MP Sammy Awuku, NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, NPP Organiser Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), and Nhyiaeso MP Stephen Amoah as examples of leaders who have risen through the ranks of the party.

In a show of support, Mr. Asante made a financial contribution to the GCTU TESCON and expressed gratitude to all participants. He urged them to brace themselves for the critical tasks ahead, stating, “TESCON must remain proactive and relentless in engaging with the voting population to explain government policies and social intervention programs.”

Mr. Asante has consistently advocated for the rebranding and strengthening of TESCON to enhance its appeal and effectiveness in grassroots mobilization. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting TESCON branches across the country and encouraged members to avoid complacency as they work towards ensuring an NPP victory.

“The NPP leadership must make TESCON more attractive and provide the necessary support to enhance its operations. Our student activists are the backbone of the party’s future,” he reiterated.

With the general elections approaching, TESCON’s role in galvanizing youth support and communicating the party’s policies will be critical in the NPP’s electoral strategy.
