The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has opened registration for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, First Series.

According to a notice issued by WAEC, the registration period is currently ongoing and will close on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

John Kapi, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, announced the development on December 31 during an appearance on JoyNews’ AM Show. He explained that the newly introduced WASSCE PC1 programme offers students a quicker pathway to enhance their grades.

This initiative allows candidates to resit one or two papers without waiting for the next examination cycle, marking a departure from the previous system that required a year-long wait.

WAEC advises prospective candidates to visit its official website for detailed registration guidelines and to complete the process at accredited internet cafés approved by the council.

The First Series of the exams is scheduled to take place from January 24 to February 15, 2025. Candidates will write their exams under secure and standardized conditions, in line with WAEC’s commitment to upholding its reputation for credibility and integrity.

For more information, candidates can contact WAEC through its official communication channels.
