The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a delay in the release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results due to outstanding financial obligations to WAEC. This delay, which contrasts with last year's December 18th release, may extend into 2025, affecting thousands of students awaiting their results for university admissions.
Reason for the Delay
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) cited incomplete post-exam processes as the reason for the hold-up, explaining that these procedures cannot be finalized until the financial issues are resolved.
How This Affects University Admissions
With the delay potentially stretching into 2025, many students who had hoped to secure spots in tertiary institutions are left in limbo. To mitigate this, GES and the Ghana National Accreditation Board (NAB) are collaborating to ensure affected candidates can still apply for university.
How to Apply for University Without WASSCE Results
GES has created a pathway for students to apply for university through a special Admission Board. Candidates who applied for the awaiting form can contact the Admission Board via WhatsApp at:
+233 20 555 0989
+233 54 160 3369
By reaching out to the Admission Board, candidates can apply for early admission despite not having their final results.
Verifying Your WASSCE Status
WAEC has also set up a system to help candidates verify if their results have been withheld or canceled. To check your WASSCE result status:
Send a WhatsApp message to +233 20 555 0989 or +233 54 160 3369.
If issues arise, candidates are advised to visit the nearest WAEC office to request an appeal.
What This Means for Students
While the delay presents an obstacle, the measures introduced by GES and NAB offer students a chance to continue their education without interruption. By taking advantage of the early admission process, candidates can stay on track with their academic goals.
For further updates and assistance, students should monitor official communications from GES and WAEC.
