For a variety of reasons, eight players have withdrawn from the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger. They are Ibrahim Osman, Joseph Painstil, Jerome Opoku, Alexander Djiku, Tariq Lamptey, Jonas Adjetey, Inaki Williams, and Antoine Semenyo. The FA provided explanations for its withdrawal in a statement yesterday. Inaki Williams pulled out due to a hamstring injury he sustained on November 7 and hasn't been able to train since, the statement said.
Tariq Lamptey is undergoing rehabilitation with his club due to a calf ailment that worsened last week, while Jonas Adjetey was thought to be nearing complete recovery until their most recent League match on Saturday. As to the statement, Jerome Opoku has been suffering from a persistent back ache that worsened during Sunday's Super Lig match against Besiktas. His club is currently helping him with his rehabilitation. The medical staff at his club decided to take advantage of the break to refer Antoine Semenyo to a tendon specialist in order to prevent the problem from getting worse. Semenyo has a patella tendon injury as a result of playing too many games.
Ibrahim Osman reportedly sustained a hamstring injury during his most recent club game, while Alexander Djiku worsened an existing hamstring, leading to his substitution in Sunday's match, according to the statement. Joseph Painstil didn't attend the qualifiers for personal reasons. They would be replaced by Terry Yegbe (IF Elfsborg), Ebenezer Annan (OFK Beograd), Kingsley Schindler (Samsunspor), Ransford Yeboah Koningsdorffer (Hamburger SV), Forson Amankwah (Norwich City), and Osman Bukari (Austin FC).
