Veteran journalist, Kweku Baako Jr.
Dr. Randy Abbey, a well-known broadcaster, placed veteran journalist Kweku Baako Jnr on the spot by asking him why he chose to marry late in life.
The conversation took place during a panel discussion on Good Morning Ghana on January 9, 2024, which was Dr. Abbey's last broadcast as a host.
The broadcaster contrasted Baako to a close friend, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, who married much earlier in life.
"I will continue to ask the question I want to ask you. How come, despite the fact that you were like twins, Kwesi married early and you married later?" Dr. Abbey asked.
Kwesi Pratt sought to dodge the question, saying, "Is it a question to ask?" Dr. Abbey pressed on, and Baako responded.
The senior journalist, who is the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide weekly, openly confessed that his youthful lifestyle influenced his decision to postpone marriage.
"Lack of self-control. I was just a rolling stone. Yes, I was a rolling stone. And that hampered my ability to meet respectable ladies," Baako admitted.
He also stated that, despite his past, he eventually found the ideal companion. "Thankfully, I got a woman just the right fit-for-purpose."
Dr. Abbey said, "That's why you're still paying school fees, while Kwesi has grandchildren."
Baako joked back, adding, "Korle Gono has taken all my children," which elicited more amusement when Dr. Abbey added, "That's why you don't drive past there [Korle Gono]." "You hear, 'Daddy, Daddy.'"
