Regarding election materials that arrived in Koforidua, the capital of the Eastern Region, with damaged seals, the Ghana Police Service has responded.
Ahead of the elections in December 2024, this episode, which was caught on camera and went viral, alarmed the populace.
The police claim that the damaged seals happened when the items were being packed and unpacked during the shipping process.
The Electoral Commission (EC) and officials from each political party examined the materials and verified that the contents were undamaged, according to a statement. After the stakeholders confirmed the materials' integrity, the matter was settled amicably.
A guy can be heard in the films objecting to the bag's transportation, citing worries about the seals. At the Eastern Regional Police Command, this caused a stir. To prevent tampering with election materials, the police told the public that strong security measures are in place.
They underlined their dedication to making sure the next elections are fair and transparent. This event comes after the EC's election preparations came under increased scrutiny, with parties keeping a careful eye on the proceedings to preserve the legitimacy of the polls scheduled for December 7.
