The public is concerned over the recent sentencing of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako's 16-year-old son.
The youngster was sentenced to six months in a senior correctional facility after pleading guilty to eight crimes, including two counts of manslaughter, in connection with a terrible accident in East Legon that killed two 12-year-old children.
The tragedy occurred when the adolescent, driving his parents' Jaguar F-Pace Sport, collided with another vehicle. According to reports, he was traveling through East Legon in a convoy with buddies when the crash occurred.
In addition to the juvenile's sentence, Bishop Salifu Amoako and his wife were fined GH¢12,000 for negligence and letting their unlicensed son to operate their vehicle.
The judgment has caused significant outcry on social media platforms, with many netizens expressing outrage at what they see as a mild punishment for a crime that resulted in the deaths of two young people.
Some have suggested that a six-month sentence does not reflect the gravity of the conduct, calling for a reassessment of the justice system's handling of such situations.
Many people are pushing for greater enforcement of traffic regulations and more severe punishments to curb reckless driving, particularly among unlicensed individuals.
