A 79-YEAR-OLD man died yesterday after his vehicle slid down a precipice.
The victim has been named as Shaheed Mohammed of Lamont Street in Longdenville.
According to police records, Mohammed was in the passenger seat of a silver Nissan AD Wagon driven by a relative north on the Brasso Tabaquite Road at around 2.50 a.m.
According to police, the relative fell asleep while driving and caused the vehicle to go off a bridge. The car dropped around 11 feet and crashed on its hood. The car's top was immersed in four feet of water.
The driver recovered consciousness and exited the vehicle with the 79-year-old. However, Mohammed began complaining of chest issues and died soon after.
The police were notified, and a team of policemen lead by Sergeant McLeod responded.
