In a statement to Ghanaians, Speaker of the House of Representatives Alban Bagbin reaffirmed his commitment to preserving national harmony as the general elections of 2024 draw near. According to a TV3 broadcast, Alban Bagbin stated that he has always supported national peace and will do so in the future.
In an effort to foster harmony and peace ahead of the next elections, he made this pledge during a visit from the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS).
The organization's national executive director, Obento Nana Kwasi Gyetuah, served as the team leader for GNACOPS. Members of the delegation were educators and pupils from particular private schools. In order to maintain peace prior to, during, and following the elections, they urged Speaker Bagbin to exercise his power. Additionally, they praised him for his accomplishments and for serving as an example for young people, proving that peaceful cooperation is an essential component of a democracy.
When asked about his devotion, Speaker Bagbin said, "I’m more than committed to the peace of this nation." He gave the GNACOPS group his word that there would be free, fair, peaceful, and legitimate elections.
Speaker Bagbin held a seminar in Tamale to emphasize the value of peace as part of the 30-year commemoration of Ghana's parliamentary democracy. The need of preserving a peaceful society was discussed by experts who were invited. Additionally, he launched the "Democracy Cup," a program that uses football's popularity across the country to promote peace.
"Peace is the foundation of life," Bagbin said. As Ghana's future leaders, he commended GNACOPS for their efforts to promote peace, particularly via educating the country's youth about the value of peaceful coexistence. GNACOPS' presence demonstrated its dedication to supporting peaceful elections and fostering national unity.
